Bora Bora’s top five restaurants awaits you!
My name is Heirama Fearon, and as an island-born businessman and artist, I’m delighted to share some dining tips and recommendations from a local perspective. Here are my five dining picks that offer delectable cuisine, inviting atmosphere and excellent service.
#5 Bloody Mary’s Restaurant & Bar (Tahitian Surf & Turf – Fresh Seafood, Beef Specialties & Tiki Hut Decore)
From the moment you enter Bora Bora’s longest-standing restaurant, you’ll know why this legendary landmark reigns as one of Bora Bora’s most famous destinations. Sandy floors, colorful displays, island-style hospitality and tiki-influenced decor complete with coconut log seating will have you relaxed and satisfied in no time! Fresh-from-the-lagoon seafood favorites and top-grade poultry and New Zealand beef make Bloody Mary’s a “surf & turf favorite. Hearty appetite and thirst required. Shoes and sandals optional. Ia Orana!
#4 Matira Beach Restaurant (Japanese Cuisine With Tahitian Flair)
Red is the theme of this Japanese-influenced seaside restaurant nestled on the shore of world-renowned Matira Beach. Chef Teina has created a fusion of Japanese favorites with Tahitian flare. From an impressive array of appetizers to amazing sushi to Teppanyaki-grilled fresh island seafood, you’ll experience a blend of deliciousness found nowhere else in the world. Enjoy the crimson glow of sunset at Matira Beach Restaurant!
#3 Fare Manuia (Pizzas, Casual Dining & Sports Bar)
“Fare” means house. “Manuia” means good luck. And according to host and owner Regis, “Fare Manuia” means “Our house is your house!” Enjoy great food, cool drinks, casual atmosphere and guaranteed fun at Fare Manuia!
Not to worry he has 2 dinning room areas that separate you from the bar! He offers a lovely French menu and great plate size pizza. Not looking at eating at a restaurant, no problem you can take home the pizzas and enjoy them in the comfort of your own room!
#2 La Villa Mahana (French-Influenced Island Cuisine)
With romantic Tuscan-inspired decor, world-class delicacies and intimate setting, reservations in advance are a must. Chef Damien has garnered prestigious credentials and awards for culinary magic. His reputation in describing daily specials and taking dinner orders in person has earned him an amazing reputation! His French influenced menu with local ingredients is perfectly executed and, in my opinion, flawless! Don’t forget to make reservations for this must-do Bora Bora dining experience.
#1 Maikai Restaurant (Island Cuisine, Bora Bora’s Best!)
Closely edging out Villa Mahana as my number-one Bora Bora restaurant pick is Maikai Yacht club. What really separates these two restaurants – besides amazing cuisine – is its gorgeous yacht club setting with amazing style, architecture and atmosphere. Chef Teiva is local-born superstar who after earning high acclaim at prestigious restaurants in France and the US, returned to his island home to share his award-winning talents. His array of culinary influences mixed with local produce, fresh seafood and top-quality meats come together in a fabulously innovative, delectable fare. Take an after dinner stroll along the dock for gorgeous vistas and romantic moments. If you’re there at just the right moment, you’ll be greeted by manta ray who also enjoy the delicious offerings at Maikai Restaurant at Vaitape in the heart of Bora Bora.
